Purpose

Each Sequined Veve Artwork is handcrafted exclusively by Hougan Jay as a commissioned devotional creation honoring a specific lwa within the traditions of Haitian Vodou.

Every piece is meticulously created by hand using individually placed sequins, beads, and decorative elements to faithfully represent the sacred veve of the lwa for whom it is commissioned. More than a work of art, each creation serves as a devotional centerpiece intended to honor the lwa through beauty, craftsmanship, and reverence for tradition.

Each artwork is made to order and can be commissioned for any Haitian Vodou lwa, making every piece a one-of-a-kind creation.

Available Sizes

Our Sequined Veve Artwork is available in two sizes:

5 x 7 inches

• Perfect for smaller altars, devotional spaces, or personal shrines.
• Typical completion time: 2–4 weeks.

16 x 20 inches

• A statement ceremonial piece designed for larger altars and sacred spaces.
• Typical completion time: Approximately 3 months.

Because every artwork is handcrafted, completion times may vary depending on design complexity and current commission volume.

Commission Process

Every Sequined Veve Artwork is handcrafted as a custom commission.

Once your commission is received, the design process begins with careful planning and hand placement of each sequin, bead, and decorative element. Because every piece is created individually by hand, no two works will ever be exactly alike.

Photographs of the completed artwork will be provided for your review and approval before shipment. Once approved, your commissioned piece will be carefully packaged to help ensure it arrives safely.

Commission Policy

Each ceremonial creation is handcrafted specifically for the individual who commissions it. Because every piece is custom-made, all sales are final once the completed artwork has been reviewed and approved by the customer.

If your order arrives damaged during shipping, you must notify The Ocean’s Veil within 24 hours of confirmed delivery and provide clear photographs of both the damaged artwork and its original packaging. Approved claims will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
